Swarms

This is the bee’s method of breeding.

The old queen leaves the hive to find a new nesting site and set up a new colony and the new queen, her daughter, remains to continue the old hive but the new queen will lay eggs with different genes.

It is important to manage swarming. We have techniques to reduce the frequency and to deal with it if it begins and catch them if they manage to get out.

We are desperate to collect any swarms. This is a free volunteer service.

We will collect the swarms whenever we can and rehouse it.

Please see the map below of the areas we're able to collect from.

Please note there are some restrictions to our insurance. In particular we cannot go into the fabric or cavity of a building. We do have links with two local professional pest controllers and feedback has always been positive. Their rates are substantially less than the big firms. But we have no financial connection and if you need them that is a contract between you and them.
